What
:
Working with Habitat for Humanity International of Greater Greensboro, NC.


When
:
Dinner on Sunday, June 20th 2010 through lunch on Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010.

Who: Any able-bodied woman or man over the age of 18.

How
:
The cost is $75 per person which includes nine meals, transportation to and from the work site, and housing at a local Greensboro church.  You may also stay at the QA hotel for the same rate as during the QA ($122 per room per night + tax).

This event is available for both men and women but you must register for this event when you register for QA!

Quadrennial 2010 Pre-Event

 

Disciples Mission Fund Advocate Training

Sponsored by OGMP Promotion Ministries

June 22 (Tuesday) @ 6:00pm to June 23 (Wednesday) @ 1:30pm

 

Sheraton Four Seasons at Koury Convention Center

Greensboro, North Carolina

 

This training event is for Disciples women attending the Quadrennial.  If you are interested in helping to promote and interpret Disciples Mission Fund in your church, region and/or constituency group, please read on and fill out the response form. The training is FREE including a shared hotel room, training, and two meals; dinner on Tuesday 22nd and lunch on Wednesday 23rd

 

The Disciples Mission Fund Advocate training includes the opportunity to:

  • learn about how the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) supports ministry and mission around the world
  • understand how we fund our regions, general ministries and institutions of higher education
  • learn about the creation of a culture of generosity
  • learn tips for cultivating and soliciting donors
  • learn about generational and gender differences in giving
  • learn the history of women contributing to DMF and how you can encourage women to be DMF advocates
  • worship and share stories and testimonials
  • understand how our DMF funding system works
  • leave with a  Treasure Box with lots of resources

A Disciples Mission Fund Advocate is a person who:

  • feels passionate about our church and its ministry
  • loves telling others the story of our church
  • likes to build relationships within  regions, local congregations and constituent networks
  • likes to engage others in the life of our church

A Disciples Mission Fund Advocate will serve by:

  • Visiting with friends in other congregations about Disciples Mission Fund
  • Committing  to visit at least five churches in a year and talk about the ministries supported by DMF
  • Sharing the story of giving and mission support

Ministries and Mission Interpreters (MMI) Training Event

  • Do you want to grow in your effectiveness in telling the story of Global Ministries partners and missionaries around the world?
  • Do you want to learn more about concrete opportunities for involvement in global mission? 
  • Are you willing to train others and build the Ministries and Mission Interpreters (MMI) network in your Region?

If you said “yes” to all of the above questions, then you won’t want to miss this Global Ministries MMI training event offered before the Quadrennial Assembly in Greensboro, NC.

 

Dates: Monday, June 21 @ 6:30pm through Wednesday, June 23 @ 1:30pm

Sheraton Greensboro Hotel at Four Seasons and Joseph S. Koury Convention Center


Agenda:
Worship and mission moments lead by missionaries, Mission priority updates from Global Ministries staff, Stories and testimonies from Global Sisters, Workshops on practical global mission opportunities, Training on making global mission presentations, Strategies for education and advocacy work, Steps for Being a Global Mission Church, and Process for developing an action plan….and plenty of fun!


Cost: $230 per person for materials, two nights lodging (double occupancy) and 3 meals (2 lunches and 1 dinner). Scholarships of $180 are available for women who would like to serve as a Ministries and Mission Interpreter (MMI) in their church setting
